Risk Analyst Training Programme

Deutsche Bank “Best Global Bank 2011”. A Passion to Perform. It’s what drives us. More than a claim, this describes the way we do business. We compete to be the leading global provider of financial services, balancing passion with precision to deliver superior solutions for our clients. This is made possible by our people: agile minds, able to see beyond the obvious, act effectively in an ever-changing global business landscape. As you’ll discover, our culture supports this. Diverse, international and shaped by a variety of different perspectives, we’re driven by a shared sense of purpose. At every level agile minds are rewarded with competitive pay, support and the opportunity to excel.

In 2011, we were named the “Best Global Bank“ by Euromoney, the flagship international finance magazine. It’s validation of the successful transformation in our business over the past few years. Today, Deutsche Bank is a leader in Germany and Europe and is continuously growing in North America, Asia and key emerging markets.

In an ever-changing financial landscape, the role of the Risk Division has never been more important.

Deutsche Bank is exposed to a number of risks on a daily basis. These range from credit losses, market price volatility and operational failures to liquidity shortages and regulatory and legal matters. Risk is charged with identifying, aggregating, managing and mitigating these risks. We are made up of: Compliance, Corporate Security & Business Continuity, Credit Risk Management, Enterprise-wide Risk Management, Government & Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Market Risk Management, Risk Analytics and Instruments, Treasury, and our Chief Operating Office.

Risk is continually providing new solutions as we keep pace with increasingly complex financial products and ever-changing market dynamics. We place a strong emphasis on specialised training and education. This allows our people to develop the necessary skills to grow and succeed.

Our People

Our people are outstanding individuals with agile minds, from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures. They generate fresh ideas and innovative solutions which set us apart from our competitors and add value to our clients. To apply for an Analyst position in Risk you should:

  • be in your final year of study,
  • speak fluent English (additional languages are desirable for some locations but not a prerequisite),
  • have quantitative, technical and analytical aptitude,
  • possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills,
  • show willingness to work on international assignments.

Your Programme

Real-world experience is the driving force behind our graduate training programme, making it one of the most comprehensive of its kind. We are one of the only banks that still takes a completely global approach and we offer a mixture of specialist, tailored training and on-the-job development.

You will start with a six-week induction training programme in London. Your schedule will include networking events, global orientation and division-specific training to help you fully understand the organisation and structure of Risk. The training will cover accounting, products, Excel and a module to provide you with specific technical training for your first rotation. This experience is an invaluable opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and build relationships which will be vital to you in your career with the Bank.

Over the course of your programme, you can expect to take an active and productive role. You will complete three rotations, two within your hiring stream and one within another area of the division. Your role during each rotation will vary, providing breadth and depth of experience and honing your skills. You will also participate in a mentoring programme, where you have the opportunity to meet members of the senior management. This will be invaluable to your development and provide you with good networking possibilities.

We believe that continuous learning is vital to your career at Deutsche Bank and will ensure that you benefit from ongoing professional development throughout the programme and beyond. Approximately six months after the induction, you will participate in a regional training course, where you will refine skills such as project management, communication and presentation skills.
